Book Spoilers

When I heard there was going to be a movie (just one) Ecstacy I thought great, only a one in 3 chance that they pick the only boring story from the book as the basis for the film. Thanks for nothing all involved. The story based on Thalidomide where the West Ham casual meets up with the Flid girl and get revenge on those who helped market the drug or the one about the nurse hooking up with her favourite writer whilst her husband helps his doctor mate indulge in some necrophilia would have made much more fun films but the boring boy meets girl story of the 3, big fat yawn. Hope Filth isn't going to be a disappointment but it's looking like going that way for they have cast as the disgusting, smelly horrible DS Bruce Robertson: James McAvoy. There's no way that anyone who's read Filth would have envisioned McAvoy as DS Robertson.

haha

yeah he definitely seems a little lightweight for Bruce Robertson. i liked ecstacy, but agree with u bout the other stories. would have liked this movie a lot more 10 years ago when that was more my scene:) if you haven't read 'if you liked school youll love work', it's a classic. just finished it.

As of a few days ago that's me read all of Welsh's novels. If you liked Trainspotting and Porno you will enjoy Skagboys. RE: your post. Yeah this movie seems like 16 years too late. Especially since these days the E's are totally pathetic compared with what was going about in the early to mid '90s and just like Ecstasy, Filth also has hardly any Scots in it.

cheers just got a copy of skagboys. looking forward to getting stuck into it. im australian, so cant pick up on the dodgy accents. welsh's novels have such a keen sense of place,it seems really disingenuous not to cast scots. its like the whole point of the story is lost. anyway, hopefully the next film adaption recaptures the authenticity of trainspotting. have a good one trip2themoon.

While no-one could have envisioned McAvoy in that role...he totally hit it out of the park...didn't he though? :)

McAvoy is Robertson.

The movie does feel outdated but I still enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of 14 years ago and it brought a smile to my face seeing myself in the screen. The music is defintely outdated but I'll take it anyday over the current EDM fad.
