Actually, I am not sure that this show is even on the level. Maybe it is contrived and the people are just actors? Some of this is just too hard to swallow.

I think it may be because there's no resolution or help provided like most of these 'disorder reality' shows (ie: intervention, hoarders, etc.)
On all of them but this one they show you what their disorder is, then show people trying to get them help with professionals. This just shows you how weird this person is then moves onto the next segment, there's no help involved!
It's just looking at weird people doing weird things, then it's over. But at the same time, that's why I like it, so i'm weird too.
Anyway, that may be why it appears to be fake/actors, just an idea...

LOL I was just saying this, and I looked this show up on imdb to see if there was any discussion about it. If these people are in fact legit, they need professional help and this show is pretty much like a freak show. They just show how weird the people are then the show is over, no resolution at all. It's frustrating but we still watch this show every time it is on cuz the people are just so out there.

IMO these are not "addictions," but they are severe obsessive-compulsive behaviors. I completely agree that most of them are mentally ill and need help before they lethally harm themselves. (Just my opinion.)
