I don't fly but I've learned a few things about aviation from being a member of Civil Air Patrol. In the first season, my antennae went up when the cast members had to sneak around the FBOs (fixed base operators - basically fuel, maintenance and other services for aircraft and pilots) rather than simply showing the appropriate paperwork and receiving full cooperation.

Repo guys usually assume that the FBOs are loyal to the plane owners and thus might tip them off that their plane is being repo'd. They usually have day-to-day interactions with the (deadbeat) owners, and they don't know the repo guys at all (most often). They don't know what deadbeats the owners are so they have no reason to not tip them off that there is a "suspicious person" prowling around their plane.
Fair enough, and what you're saying makes sense. But I still don't see a need to "sneak" around when they can simply present the legal paperwork proving the arrears and title transfer back to the lender.
