Confused this with another battle

SPOILER ALERT! I was shocked to see the garrison surrender after just seven days of fighting. I confused this with the battle of the Hel Peninsula, which lasted into October and had one of the very last Polish units to surrender. If this Westerplatte battle wasn't the same thing then it had to be very close to the Hel Peninsula. I wonder if and how the two battles connected.

The two battles were hardly connected. Westerplatte was a small, isolated post situated outside the actual Polish territory and its military defense was more about prestige than to block any German advance. Hel peninsula although located not far from Gdansk was still a part of Polish shore and meant to be defended at any cost. However, strategically both battles were fought in vain because there was no real chance of defending the whole "corridor" surrounded by enemies land and armies. The Polish Command just didn't want to admit that.
