I turned the movie off because I could not stand Shelley Long's character.
But Jordan Bridges is always great!
Jordan Bridges is a hunk! Plus he looks so much younger than Chris Mckenna even though Chris is four years younger.
I digress, as for Shelly Long, her character was irritating, but her characters usually are.

Shelley Long seemed to be attempting a Diane Keaton impersonation in this - when she first showed up onscreen it took me a moment to realize who she was. Thought it was a cute movie, but must admit Long wasn't at her best. She's had issues in recent years... imagine Mr. Fall got the best she had to give in this instance.

Though far from great cinema, I found it a perfectly servicable little flick in a Lifetime/Hallmark sort of way. Something of a trademark of Mr. Fall's, the performances of the two leads were somewhat elevated above the material.
Just my opinion of course, but I enjoyed it, even if it was just an "OK" made for television TV flick.

What 'issues' has Shelly Long had in recent years?
shareI actually watched this thing, but as one reviewer mentioned, the end was too rushed, and there really wasn't enough time for the two people who married at the end to actually realize they would have loved each other. MAYBE if it had shown them as friends for a few months, where they could really see each others failings in their current relationships, but it wasn't that way.
Honestly, I've always found Shelley Long annoying, EXCEPT where she was perfectly cast in the Brady Bunch movies.
I've watched better, and worse. We watched it and enjoyed it just fine. We try to take in as many Christmas movies as possible each year...we join Netflix for the month of December expressly for that purpose...you can watch dozens of holiday movies for $8.

It was hard to sit through the first half of this movie but, the second half provides a huge payoff for the audience with some brilliant screen writing and well done execution. The lead actress character played by Bonnie Somerville, Hillary Burns, becomes more likable as she finds herself and becomes open and honest with her parents and siblings.
