Made me cry. [Major spoilers!]

I realize I was supposed to feel those first heartstrings tugged when the parents died, but it was the missing dog that started me on tear-alert.

Then they read passages from The Happy Prince, which sent me into paroxysms of sobs about four hundred times when I was a child, listening to the record. Ever read it? Still THE saddest children's story ever.

Eddie dying from the cold he hated and "the simple act of kindness" pretty much finished me off.

But. . .it's okay. Sometimes you need a good cry and a jumpstart to get it going. <smile>

I like a bit of magic and endings that turn out basically happy, but not so determinedly upbeat that absolutely everyone gets 100%. For example, I appreciated that the Indian woman was able to send Goose off with a namaste and was content enough with her life to not have her dead husband walking toward her through the snow.

Lovely little movie; good job.

I couldn't agree more! I had a feeling it was going to be sad as soon as I saw Goose & Mutt wandering through the bleak city (I missed the first 10 minutes so I missed the parents dying) & also cried when Frank was reading "The Little Prince" to his pregnant wife's belly. I loved how "Anthony" got his second chance by that "simple act of kindness" & how everything was put together again. I am so glad I discovered this movie! I 110% recommend it!!!
