It was sentimental drivel that made It's a Wonderful Life look intellectual. And at least that film had Jimmy Stewart. This had a bunch of amateurs.

I have to strongly disagree with the comment above and as a university drama student . I have to say that I feel the acting in this film was very moving and well portrayed.

Yeah, it certainly moved me - like syrup of figs does.

And some people just prefer to be mean for the sake of it. On your own this Christmas, are you? I'm sorry, but venting bile isn't how that is best dealt with.

Actually, objectively, the acting was pretty good. And the whole managed to tread the fine line between being touching and over sentimentality and mawkishness very well. I was surprised! I am not usually too keen on the overtly sentimental at all. And while I like what I have seen of Eddie Izzard as a personality, I haven't always been too impressed with what he does. I thought he was good in the American series "The Riches", but I thought he was dreadful in "The Day of the Triffids". Not helped by a lousy script, of course, but he was completely miscast in that, as most of the rest of them were as well. But he wasn't badly cast in this. He headed it well. They were all pretty good. And I can see this becoming staple fare for Christmas for years.

Flawed in spots but overall very enjoyable. Absolutely adored Eddie Izzard! What a brilliant, nuanced performance he gave. Most of the way through I was really loving it. Some questions left at the end, which is a tad annoying. But it's definitely thought provoking and inspires one to think about how our actions can affect others' lives in ways we never consider.

Far superior to the routine cringe-inducing saccharine that usually appears this time of year.

And Larry Mills – wonderful performance, kid!

It was late for me when I posted that comment about "questions"! Questions existed only because I wasn't paying attention! :D

I just saw it this morning on Showtime & loved it!!! I am so glad I discovered it - it is a wonderfully delightful movie! I personally thought "It's a Wonderful Life" sucked balls so I cannot disagree more with the curmudgeon who keeps trying to bash this movie. It's also available as a DVD & I will soon be adding it to my collection!

Oooo. The thing I hate about It's a Wonderful Life is that the rich guy who stole the money was never caught and the money was never returned. That just burns me.

I'm watching it on amazon prime right now.

On your own this Christmas, are you?

No, I'm spending Christmas with some intelligent people, thanks.

Neither is blind idolatry of the feeble.

I'm not quite sure what you're inferring, but may it be that you don't believe God created the world in six days and on the seventh he rested?.Admittedly he doesn't seem to have done a whole lot since, but I think you're being a little harsh.
