How long is each episode?

I watched the first two episodes of the Discovery Channel version of "Human Planet" and noticed that there's only going to be six episodes while the BBC version has eight. Discovery added many commercial segments on this series making it lose momentum and had about 40-45 minutes of actual footage. How long is each episode on the BBC version? I feel like Discovery butchered this amazing series...

50 minutes per episodes. There are 8 episodes in total, so 400 minutes running time.

Life is 10*50 and Planet Earth is 11*50. So it does seem to get less over time.

So Discovery is cutting about 150 minutes of footage? Damn... I have to see the real BBC version.

It's not that long... it has behind the lenses segment at the end of the each epsideo so to sup it is 50 mins..
on TV this segment is not aired.. i guess.
