Cities: Surviving the Urban Jungle (Why is it good?)

I've just watched this episode. As a huge BBC fan (Planet Earth / Life are my favorite all time series) I expected to see something cool. I'm disappointed. Maybe it's just this single episode (I haven't seen the rest), but I don't see why this is a good show. Okay, the narration was pretty good, the visuals were stunning at times, but the things that were told were not interesting at all.
What did I learn? People use falcons to kill birds, *beep* is good for making leather soft, some insects live in couches, bees can live on a skyscraper and rats eat leftovers. When the credits rolled up the screen, I was stunned. Is this the show everyone is talking about? Does this deserve a 9.3/10 on IMDB?

I agree this episode was pretty boring. Since most of us seeing this show live in cities and see it everyday.

The other episodes are set in nature and thats where the really interesting stuff happens.
I didn't like this show as much I did BBC Planet Earth, a masterpiece.
But it's technically impressive nonetheless.
I've begun to rewatch each episode and found them more impressive at second view.
Maybe expectations were too big first time around

The city one was a disappointment to me. I mean really, who doesn't know about bed bugs and rats. I agree with the person above I think my exceptions were really high. With all that said the whole series was fascinating and I hope you get a chance to see the rest of the series.

How can you judge it based on 1 episode?

Clearly if it gets 9.3 then there must be in it that people like...

The cities one wasn't that great but that is obvious isn't it.....? Most of us live in cities and know about this stuff... Watch the other episodes, I was caught on with the first one and the second episode alone made me think this was one of the best documentaries ever, and it is consistent (until the last episode).

you can rate the individual episodes. that's "how he can judge based on 1 episode". plus he liked the others.

the last episode is not even a part of the series...
well actually i cannot consider it as one..

it's kind of a sum-up..or a summary... and well probably an unnecessary one
because it takes places in urban populated cities...very different from other epsides

please watch 1 to 7 episodes and judge again..

especially arctic shots... african regions... they have very interesting themes..

it is one of the best documentaries based on humans...
but of coursethre are more beautiful artistic and amazing BBC nature docs as well..

but this type is rare!
