Baffled by all the puns...

What's the point? The stories are usually interesting on their own, so I don't see the need for the nonstop puns and snide remarks, sometimes even in reference to the victim. Ugh.

Not to mention all the circus-y type music playing...makes it all sound too light and happy when NONE of these stories are lighthearted.

Nightmare Next Door did a story on the murder of a local girl a few years ago and I don't remember the host being so cheerful and the music being so happy. I recall it being very informative and interesting, although incredibly sad. Maybe they have changed the format of the show over the years?

I don't know what's more annoying: The puns, the cops and homicide detectives standing there with their arms crossed while looking at the camera or the actors stopping in mid-sentence to look at the camera.

Omfg, yes. I had to come here to see if I was the only one who was annoyed with the TERRIBLE plays on words, phrases, and locations. They're horrible. I just watched one from Navasota, Texas (not far from me), and they were such cliche remarks about Texas. The worst (at least as far as I've made it through the series), however, was one a few epis after that centered in the northeast...I've never heard so many bad clam chowder phrases. And the way he awkwardly said 'chowdah' in the opening, <<shivers>>.
As for the actors turning to face the camera, did they do that the first season? I didn't notice it til further through the series. But, yes, it, too, is terrible.
Still, I can't stop watching, haha.

Instead of toning down the puns and "cute" remarks, they seem to have increased with every season. It's not that irritating if you watch one episode a month but if you're in my situation doing a boring hospital stay, the narration is odious.

reply

It's aggravating to me even if I don't watch it in months and then try to watch it again, which I haven't lately. It's as if the narrator is laughing and joking about sad and horrific situations. I just can't take it anymore...............

reply

No doubt! I thought "If they were getting ready to tell the story of a loved one's murder, I'd be seriously pissed by their choice of music and narration, like they were making light of a horrific situation." And they keep amping it up every season. WTF?
