Democracy....give me a break

How can people even talk about that theme today? Democracy is completely non-existing...

Because the illusion of freedom is still ten times better than the realization of oppression. And in saying that, I think we're lucky enough to be posting our opinions on the internet without having a gun at the back of ours necks.

So I'm still supporting the idea of freedom.

Isn't it funny that all resource-rich countries are plagued with conflicts?
The Myanmar/Burmese conflict benefited many financial interests from "big" world powers, they always create chaos in resource-rich areas to be able to extract resources in an easy an inexpensive way regardless of the cost of life.
Now Aung San Suu Kyi is freed and these same big powers pretend they are all happy for her freedom, but the truth is that they could have done something for the peace of Burma and to help her in her mission a looong time ago, starting with not selling weapons to the military regime!
This just shows how hypocrite these so-called superpowers are and how the life of many "poor" people means nothing to them in the face of profit.
So yes, democracy is an illusion! No more neocolonialism, let these countries live in peace and be free!
No more weapons or arms industry!
Like John Lennon said there is no money in peace, that is why war is so profitable.
This movie sadly shows how the greed of those who rule this world has no limit, but peace is possible if more people were as brave and courageous to stand up as Suu Kyi.

I have the freedom in Canada to attend a political rally and not be forced to walk through a field of landmines like people were forced to do in this movie.

A great line from the film that illustrates the ethics of democracy: The emancipation of the human spirit from political tyranny and psychological suppression.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.
