Michelle Yeoh - any improvement in her acting ?

Please give some unbias reviews on her.
She's poorest in acting drama.
Did they cast her because she they can't find anyone else that look like Aung San Sun Kyi ? ?

reply

I thought she mirrored Aung San Suu Kyi's gestures quite well.

We are watching a movie, not a catwalk. I guess you are telling me her acting is still poor in a polite way ?

reply

No, if she did not embody Suu Kyi's character, you might as well casr Lady Gaga to play her.

reply

I think you have not been honest in your opinions or replies. You know very well I am not asking whether they look alike, so why bring in Lady Ga Ga ? I refer to her acting. U need not twist and turn in your replies.

Personally I thought she was amazing. She plays her character with so much poise and composure but at the same time you realize how much the events around her are affecting her and, particularly in the final part, she is heartbreaking. I know that Yeoh was never in the running but for me she was definitely Oscar-worthy.

In my opinion, Michelle's acting never brought Aung San Suu Kyi to life. She seemed much too saintly to believable as a human being. Of course, she's hampered by the script, which doesn't give her much opportunity to dig deep, but some of her acting choices left quite a lot to be desired. For instance, during the scene in which Suu Kyi's forcibly separated from her sons, her line reading was much too calm.

That said, she did look the part, so at least, there's that.

Judging from the Oscar non-nomination for her, her acting must be not good enough yet. Most of the times, when the script don't give opportunity for the acting, it's not due to the script but due to the actor who cannot carry it out. A movie will look poorer with poorly acted scenes. Take that Crouching Tiger movie for instance, Michelle was supposed to be the leading lady but the finished movie had a newcomer supporting role had more scenes than her. Obviously, her own scenes must be so bad that they have to cut them out.

Having said, I will still watch it for Myanmar & Daw Aung's sake.

Looking forward to Myanmar's version(more about her father) which is preparing for production now. Wonder who will be acting her.

quite da opp. script will make or brake unless improv is allowed by da dir

At the beginning I didn't like her acting. During the film I realized that is not her acting so bad but she portrays real life character which happens to be hypotonic although her huge career. So at the end I believe she was a great performance and that performance increase her value as an actress.

I thought she was good.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.

I thought she did a really good job playing the role, several times her acting really got me emotional.
