michelle trachtenberg's tongue slip?

"Nicky told me herself, I just told Seth." this is about 10 minutes into the movie where they just met Harold. Im pretty sure she said Seth and not Zach (Seth Green's character)

reply

Yeah, it's at about 12:31. I didn't even realize it until you pointed it out. Kinda cute.

reply

Well I listened to it several times, it was 'Zack'. But the two names are not so different so...

reply

No. She really does say Seth.

Think about it, put it on fault line.

reply

No, dude, sorry but you're totally wrong. I listened to it many times and she clearly says "Zack". Don't know what else to say, listen to it objectively and you'll agree. Sorry guys, there might be goofs in this movie but this is definitely not one of them

reply

Correct, she says "Zack" and not "Seth" in that particular line. I don't blame the OP for mishearing though, at first it sounds as if she might be saying "Seth".

It's very easy to prove she's not, however -- play the bit on slow speed (0.25x) with the volume way up, and you'll hear there's absolutely no doubt.

A "TH"-sound would be a dead giveaway, I'm sure, if it was there. In reality there is no such sound there, although it can seem that way because she talks fast.

Instead of arguing against solid proof: Check it out for yourself. Run it at an extremely slow speed (0.25x) and turn it way up (use earplugs or headphones, preferrably), and even the most challenged will be able to hear the very definite "k"-sound at the end. But your playback will probably have to go at least that slow before you can tell that there is no doubt.

Also you can see her lips form a Z

reply

You're correct. She does say "Seth." The names sound a little alike, but there is no mistaking it. She definitely doesn't say "Zach."

reply

No, she says "Zach."

she says Zach

reply

You're all wrong, she says Zeus

reply

She said Spartacus!

reply

This is the stupidest thread I've ever read through. She obviously says Zack, you're just hearing her talk fast and placing in what you subconsciously hope she's saying. Sorry to burst bubbles.

WHY SO SERIOUS?!?!

Exactly. Besides, there's no reason to discuss it further. Anyone who doubts this is true, try running it on 33 or 25 percent speed like I explained above, and I promise you this debate goes away quickly.

I remember many years ago when "The Doors" by Oliver Stone came out, there's a famous scene where Kathleen Quinlan supposedly slips up and says "They're calling for you, Val" (to Val Kilmer). She doesn't however, the actual script says "they're calling for you NOW". And again, it's easy to hear if you slow it down. ;)

reply

Sorry when I saw the title Michelle trachtenberg's tongue slip I was thinking of something else entirely-I was too busy watching the gorgeous lady to notice what she said!

reply

Idk... I just slowed it wayyy down, and I gotta say it sounds like 'Seth'. That's my vote.

Maybe we are seeing different versions or something, she clearly says Seth.

reply

it ends with "ack" not "eth" but she does say it a bit strange. defo zack tho

reply

We are clearly watching two different versions. An early release actually had her saying "Seth" and was corrected in later releases.

reply

Not sure if there are different versions of the movie, but I am SURE thst she called Zach "Seth" by mistake. How does a movie go out with SUCH a mistake being made? Normally when an actor calls another actor by the wrong name during shooting, they normally stop shooting and re-shoot. How does SUCH a mis-step make it this far in the process?

reply

[deleted]

Sorry, in the version I saw she clearly says "Zack." I mean, no doubt at all.

reply

There must be different versions because i wasn't totally watching this movie (doing other things with it on in the background) but even i took notice when she called him seth

reply

It sounds like she's saying Seth but if you listening closely it's Zack, she's just speaking quickly and her words carry together so the pronunciation isn't harsh

reply

Sounded like Seth at first---but when I put my headphones on, it's definitely Zach. I can totally hear the "ck" at the end.
