I couldn't finish watching this

Yes. It's the acting. The whole movie had a very 'spur of the moment' feel to it. As though all the actors were actually neighbors in the same apartment building, who all happened to attend the same barbecue/block party, out in the backyard/parking lot.

Then one of them yells out, "Hey, y'all want to make a movie right quick?"
And someone else's yells back, "What for?"
And he replies, "Hell, I don't know. Anybody got a camcorder?"

And the rest is movie history.

Actors (neighbors) reading off of cue cards, looking directly into the camera. The camera man (Mrs. Mable from 2A) breathing real heavy and chain smoking Virginia Slims while filming. The director (and resident handyman) loudly whispering directions off camera while slurping on some chicken wings.

It's been a few years since I rented this from Red Box, so I don't remember if it went down exactly like this. But it's certainly the impression I was left with.
