In the first Uncharted, Nate was following clues left by Francis Drake (who is also his ancestor) in the second game, Nate follows clues and writings by Marco Polo, and for this game, he will follow T.E. Lawrence's clues and writings (Lawrence of Arabia!)

shareAtlantis would be really great so long as they have their own unique take on it and it isn't like the other versions of Atlantis we have seen before. I'd especially love it if they used the HyrdoEngine to get some real flowing water to use for some interesting level designs and puzzles and really bring something new to the franchise. Also, maybe we could then get a wetsuit Sully skin for multiplayer

Yeah, the problem with Atlantis is that it has been used in so many other movies, video games, novels, etc, that it is too cliche.
But with the right treatment, it would actually be cool. As for the watery/aquatic effects, the other Uncharted games have showed some of the best ones in the video games industry.

Yeah the water does look great in the Uncharted series but I would love it if they were able to have variable water, like this

The only thing is, I am not a fan of water combat so I wouldn't particuarly want to see that in Uncharted- my heart always sank whenever I found a harpoon gun in the Tomb Raider games!

I was hoping U3 would be about Atlantis, because that would have really allowed them to explore the more fantastical elements, instead of just the historical ones. But yes, tying back to what the OP said, the reason why I love the Uncharted series is how well they intertwine fantasy, reality and history. And the awesome characters and humour, of course.
I only do it with superheroes.
