New age Indiana jones???

I absolutely love the uncharted series. It almost come off as an interactive movie for me. The storytelling, action sequences, exotic locales and most important believable voice actin are all top notch. I find myself replaying the games about once a year just like I would watch a movie I love. Sure they have their gameplay flaws but each improves upon the last but all the above examples of awesomeness are present in each game. It really reminds me of a retelling or new age Indiana jones movie. Unlike any other game series out there. Naughty dog is the best game developing company imo to achieve this kind voice acting and rich characters you actually care about. Play " the last of us" if you want another example. cant wait for uncharted 4.

I think that they're broadly similar in setting too (but, in terms of characters and plot they are different and Uncharted's stunts, being drawn but also because I don't think Indiana Jones ever tried be much more than a reskinned 70s era James Bond in those terms (but with technical, if a deliberately retro kind, finesse in Crystal Skull), are often on a much higher level in Uncharted).

Drake 's Fortune and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Tombraiding in a forest.

UC2 Among Thieves and The Temple of Doom. Chasing after a terrifyingly powerful stone in India against a powerfully built male. Very popular, the most 'rollercoaster ride' of the series in some ways in its pacing and choreography however deeper longstanding character relationships, eg with Sully, are put on the backburner for a bit to concentrate on new characters. Big moving vehicle setpiece (train and mine cart respectively).

UC3 Drake's Deception and The Last Crusade. A return to male role model 'family' relationships. (Sully and Indy's father respectively). An increase in more intimate puzzle solving elements (a library in each). A power lust driven female (Helen Mirren look and sound alike Marlowe and the Nazi party member).

UC4 A Thief's End and Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull (meets Romancing the Stone / The Goonies). Grapple rope takedown of enemies. Large presence of 4x4 / motorbikes in key action. A return to the jungle setting of the first in the series. Waterfalls. Mud slides (Romancing). Abandoned pirate ship in a cave (Goonies). UC4's single player chooses not to be supernatural (unlike Crystal Skull's not univerally well received choice of Lucas to bring aliens in to it. I love the 50s details in the film though, including the 'getting in to a fridge to avoid nuclear blast' sequence).
