47 lbs!

Matthew McConaughey really did gain the weight! He gained 47 lbs in less than 6 months! That is crazy! Gaining that much weight that fast is dangerous! Not healthy! He could have gotten a heart-attack! Most people that gain that much weight, do it slowly over a long period of time, like 10 years!

reply

He gained it by eating cheeseburgers and drinking beer!

Will somebody think of the celebrities?!?!

Dunno if it was just me, but Bryce Dallas Howard looked like she bulked up for this film too...

Yeah, but when, we, ladies gain weight, it all goes to our b00bs and a-$-$! "More cushion for the pushin'"!

Matthew McConaughey looked alright. It's just that he is famous for his washboard abs. He's always on the front of the tabloids with his shirt off running! (I don't buy those magazines. I just happen to catch a glimpse of them when I'm in line at the grocery store.)

But, yes, being overweight is not healthy! Even the comedian, Gabriel Iglesias lost a 100lbs!

That's where I noticed. And around midarm.

After doing some Googling I found Bryce Dallas Howard gained 30lbs for Netflix, but couldn't find hard calendar dates. I assume there was some overlap with filming of that and this movie, which explained the weight.

At one point I actually thought McConaughey was wearing a fat suit, because it was all centered around his gut, although he was probably deliberately pushing his stomach out; those three signature fat scenes (men's robe in Waldorf, naked next to hot tub, and somewhere else I forgot), he stands stagnant in camera frame.

Women look good with a little weight on - just helps the curves.

Men - not so much.
