Doom 4 Official Video of Gameplay (8mins)

Looks like the complete rework and firing of John Carmack isn't affecting quality of the game (played through Rage twice fully, and just...meh, especially considering Borderlands was released around the same time with a similar "post-apocalyptic" theme and the game as a whole just blows Rage away with a custom BFG of its own design^^ [i know its on another planet and all, though had that same feel to the theme]).

Felt a twinge of excitement i when watching this video...could be they finally have got it on the right track, here's hoping that the finished product will impress.

Was a little conflicted when i heard that Bethesda took over the production of the game, and was partially dreading the usual litter of objects around the gameworld ala...most every other game Bethesda has produced in the past decade or so. Fallout, Elder Scrolls series. This may work somewhat for those games, though doesn't belong in my idea of the Doom games which is just full on brutal assault and hellish slaughter of anything that moves.

Doom 3 stepped it up a notch with a great sound design and (if somewhat cheap^^) "Surprise!" tactics (floors sinking into a horde of monsters trying to tear you into pieces, doors opening behind you and enemies sneaking up behind you. Very similar to Doom original in this sense. Playing with headphones was quite the jump inducing experience when it was originally released.

looks pretty good, although it is missing the "horror" factor that I liked in Quake. It would have been nice if it was blended in somehow for Doom 4.

Smooth graphics though, and the chainsaw was particularly gory.
