I was rooting for the monster

Distracting Polish accent, dumb story and ginormous plot holes made this a tough one to get through. Those kids lived in the same neighborhood and would have been in the same schools for their entire academic careers but they didn't know each other? They crossed paths by bumping elbows one time in their lives at a fair? How can you burn down a house and kill somebody and then not know the girl whose house you burned down?
