Samantha Morton vs. Scarlett Johansson

Do you think having Scarlett Johansson as the voice of the OS detracted from the movie? I did...

I think it would have been much more powerful a film to have kept Samantha Morton, who was actually the actress Pheonix was acting talking to and acting with in the movie...

It's difficult to watch this movie without thinking of the way Johansson looks...

this is true but her voice is so sultry and sexy that i think it was perfect for this movie.

I wished we got a chance to her Morton's version as an alternate track on the blu-ray

reply

I agree.

I dont see Morton's being that awful and am surprised the director changed it out of the blue. Probably cuz he slept with Scarjo.

reply

I think that's intentional. It creates a desire in men that makes us relate to what he was going through in the film.

reply

Not at all. I think Scarlett's voice delivery was one of the reasons that made this movie a masterpiece. She brought real soul to Samantha. I can't even imagine someone else topping that performance.

why they changed her for Scarlett??

Haven't seen this film yet but I really look forward to it.
Generally, I don't like ScarJo's voice that much and really didn't like that such a high profile foxy actress got a voice-over part. Based on her looks, she's gonna make bank in almost everything she does, while some Tracey Ullman type would do at least as good a job in a voice-over and the whole industry would benefit from a different approach being employed.
Instead we get Brennifer Anistpitt taking valuable work away from talented voice actors.
And I don't think SJ's voice is all that attractive. It's husky and works up to a point, but she doesn't strike me as someone who can step away from her regular tone of voice and create something unique.
