They call themselves an "Indie Wedding Band". If they were a true "Indie Band", they wouldn't have cared at all about meeting the dude from Train. He sucks and his band sucks.
I doubt any indie kid sits around and listens to Train.

Indie = independent, i.e. not signed to a major label. If music snobbery is what one seeks, there are plenty of words that can be used to describe it without misappropriating the word indie.
Besides, the episode joke is Meet Virginia, which was released when Train were more of a bluesy/roots band rather than the mainstream pop they are now.
