Why does this need a remake?

I don't get why British tv shows need to be remade to suit an American audience :S The original is far superior, what is the point of this remake when there are already shows like this in America?

because an american audience is only interested in american characters. anything foreign must be cleansed, censored and americanized or americans might finally realise there is a world outside their borders.

Karlxc got it spot on! Cannot express how this need to fiddle originals frustrates me!

Burn the heresy! Cleanse the world in a bath of fire, for AMERICA!

I don't understand it either (even after reading all the comments). I can't find anything "too British" in the original so that the Americans would not understand it. Bear in mind that I'm from Slovenia so there is a vast cultural gap involved - but I still find UK Inbetweeners immensely funny.

Ow and the US version: I'd rather not ...

Slovenia. in Eastern Europe? Where Europe tends to teach the British English. That probrably aids you. Though, the reason it gets a remake is because it does indeed use too much England specific slang, speech, or cultural norms that may not be immediately relatable to the target audience here (forms, proliferance and signficance of underage drinking, school structure, etc) and mainly because when this aired on primetime in America are indecency and foul language standards for censorships are much more stricter than those in England or Europe in general. Doesnt matter, it was canceled as it shouldve been.

Brits don't relate to fraternities, sororities, sophomores, freshmen, spring-break or any of the other myriad of alien words you use to describe the alien things you guys do at school. No uniforms? What's that all about?

You don't have to relate to something in order to enjoy it, if you did then you'd be a very sheltered person with little knowledge of other cultures...

You don't know sh!t, Jon Snow!
