The second half of this movie did not make sense.

After his wife died he was a deadbeat father.

1) He didn't put his daughter first
2) He threw the HBO fight and head butted the referee when the whole point of making that fight was to earn income so "Leyla wouldn't have to live on the streets"
3) He went on a drug/alcohol binge and attempted suicide.

Then all of the sudden the movie is about how much he loves his daughter and has to fight to win her back?

It would have made more sense if he retaliated after his wife died and got arrested/sent to prison for a short stint then upon his release had to win her back and the belt.

Grief isn't logical

It was a bit far-fetched, to say the least.

He don't know right from wrong and was thrown a curveball in life when he was victim to homicide. But when the court carefully explained the things that he needed to fight in order for him to see his daughter again, fight he did. And won. What courage.
