Jake Gyllenhaal breathes life tremendously in to a standard theme

I have always admired Jake Gyllenhaal for his acting abilities. He has never been a show off. Has always acted truly to the character that has been expected from him. In this movie has has given a tremendous performance. He really gets under the skin of his character that at times you wonder if he really is a boxer. This movie is directed by Antonie Faque who has given fantastic films like 'Training Day' and the recent 'Equalizer'.

The world of boxing is the setting. At times I felt like I was watching a 'Rocky' movie. Though I feel many will agree. But this movie is dealing with the grief aspect and how the main character attempts to reach back to his glory and overcome what he has lost. Scenes between Jake and his daughter are the highlight. As well as the end match that gives him the opportunity at revenge.
