Jake Gyllenhaal should have been nominated for an Oscar!

I just literally finished streaming this movie for the very first time, wow what an emotional ride! I didn't actually think this film was fantastic, but it was well-acted and it had heart, i couldn't enjoy the boxing match scenes due to the main tragedy storyline.

Jake Gyllenhaal pulled off the emotional, angry and confused performance. Southpaw should have been included in an Oscar category.

Rachel McAdams did a great job in the very small role she was given. They both had great chemistry, and i couldn't help but wish that her character never got killed, i wanted to see them have a happily ever after.

Southpaw still shows the viewers that there's still hope for "Billy", he obviously eventually becomes a single father, and it's his daughter that keeps him going.

As a Christian i'm glad that GOD was mentioned. Just wanted to add that, ha ha.

If you want a boxing Flick that is less emotional and more about the Boxing you're better off watching "Creed", that was an emotional film as well but not at the level that "Southpaw" is at.

Another really good sports drama is "Warrior", there is a bit of an emotional detachment between the characters and viewers in that film because they don't show a tragedy like they do in "Southpaw".

Anyway "Southpaw" is the type of Cine that you only need to watch once. It's sad, but has hope.

Yes, Jake deserves an Oscar, but not for this movie.

Why not? Maybe not a win, but Definitely a Nomination! He had to transform his body through Training, as well as Embody a grieving father and husband. That deserves a nomination. Lest not forget that Sylvester Stallone got a win and his story was Great, but not as Complex as this one.
