"We are everything" is a big joke

I know this show is cancelled and all, but how can Ethan forgive Sutton and not Emma? Ethan choosing his brother over them was the right choice, but when Emma finally told him that it was always him, he walks away. Then he forgives Sutton for everything, which made no sense because it made it look like he was going back to her again. Gosh, it was so romantic and awesome when he told her "We are everything" and then blames everything on her. Wtf!
