Brilliant Concept, needed rewriting and a different director.
As I watched the film, led brilliantly by Crudup (the only flawless aspect of the entire work aside from the original music) I couldn't help but feeling like if the tone hadn't been so cheesy and generic as well as the aesthetic that it may have been a great film. Along with minor rewrites and more development into Anton Yelchin's character. And really the only thing that makes this film brilliant is the plot twist in regards to who Josh really was. So really, all in all, it was William H. Macy who denied this film of its true potential. Any thoughts on this? What made the film only work about 70% of the time?
