Camilla Luddington - VGAs

Why the hell did she start talking like a yank then morph in to english at the end , she sounded like an idiot when presenting the new Tomb Raider especially when Samuel L J just mentioned she was British to come out and do what she did.

I cringed listening to her speak like a yank then hear her true voice in the premier of the game.

I think it's where she's living in the US and therefore has picked up a bit of an accent

She does that all the time. I have no idea if she does it on purpose - maybe speaking with the American accent in real life helps her practice - or if she's just picking up the accent and adapting to it. I kind of think it's the former though. Because in the game she has a great-sounding and 100% British accent, but then in videos I see of her she has this half American/British accent. It doesn't bother me, but I do wish she'd stick with her natural accent. I really like it.

You heart me? What is that? Is that like I love you for pussies?

I think she has lived in the USA for many years, which may account for it. Unless the producers thought a US audience might not understand her - I did wonder, for example, why she pronounced "buoy" in the game "boo-ee", American style, rather than the correct English version, "boy". I suspect directors and producers insisted. She's too smart to be doing this of her own accord, I suspect. It's something you see British actors do all the time in American films (English people NEVER say "gotten", for example - they should argue the point with the film producers).
