What Was The Foreign Travel About?

Just watched the movie once, and sort of followed it. There was a point where he went to a foreign country for about 30 seconds. I didn't quite get the point of that to the story there and why he was hiding money and suits behind a bush.

Also, the neighbor seemed like a plant for sure, so why he trusted her I wouldn't know.

After he gets his deal, he tosses the top secret file in the airport trash?

Seems pretty unbelievable but I love Bill Nighy's acting, geez, he is amazing.

I don't think it was a foreign country, simply that the art dealer was German or Dutch (can't remember the accent)

It did seem poorly carved in to the story though.
