So over Kristen Bell's pregnancies

I know I'll get flamed for this but Im so tired of her(or any other actor on any other show) being pregnant during production. It seems like when you know this is your job you can plan those things better. Having said that, my issue isnt really with her being pregnant. She seems to be a great mom and I hope they have 100 babies together. My problem is the distraction is becomes on screen. The first time she was pregnant we had to deal with clever prop placement and oversized clothes. It was blatantly obvious "this actress is pregnant but we are hiding it!!!". This time they are writing it into the story line but still flashing back so we get these massive closeups of body parts which screams "Kristen Bell is pregnant and we are using a body double!!!"

I guess the selfish viewer in me feels that there are only 12 episodes. There is plenty of time to live life so that personal and professional dont overlap.

Outside of the show I am happy for her.

It's never really bothered me tbh and I've never found it distracting! I just hope she doesn't leave the show to focus on her family, she's one of my favorites and the group dynamic is probably the best thing about the show! I know that's selfish but I don't think I'd like the show as much with out her...

reply

I wouldn't expect anyone to plan pregnancies around a show.

She has not been a distraction at all for me. Just enjoy her face and listen to what she's saying as opposed to looking at the belly?

If you knew in 6 months you had to go on a business trip to pakistan to spend a month setting up and installing a gas monitoring system would you try to get pregnant?

They film 10 episodes. How long does that really take? You don't think you couldn't start trying when there is a month or so left and talk with the team and see if you can't work something out on the back end like Lucy Liu did?

reply

It's so obvious she's having a baby as she does show it off

Her breast are bigger be happy about that!!

I 100% get what you're saying. I don't understand how some people can just stare at their TV and not "see" a person from the neck down. It's so incredibly obvious when you see giant purses, huge clothes, bags, etc! To hear other people say that they don't notice anything at all makes me just shake my head in wonderment and disappointment in human nature.

reply

Don't think anyone in this thread said they don't notice it, just that it's not a bother... and now it is part of the plot. She asked about Roscoe because it will have a half-sibling and she might have to be its stepmom.

reply

You're right, AimC. I totally misread this entire thread. Don't I feel stupid?? (Yes i do). That's how karma works. I'm pointing out how people are oblivious to the obvious and I'm the one being oblivious. My bad.
:/

It? are you being serious? Roscoe is a person, not a thing.

reply

I dont really find it distracting too much I mean its nature.

Love is blind and to each his own. As far as we know he could be the sweetest guy in the world to her. They appear to be a match made in heaven to me so let her be with whos she's with.

How can you plan around production? You do realize how difficult that is right? The pregnancy is bound to interfere with some part whether that be the beginning, middle, or end. In cases for shows on stations such as Showtime, HBO, etc it may not be such a problem, I'm not exactly sure. But, look at your big network--their seasons run to about 8-9 months long. Then it also depends on how long the show runs--how many years as well as the age you signed on.

When Gillian Anderson got pregnant during the first season of the X-Files, they made her sign a no pregnancy clause after that. Some networks have and still do that. But, the reason I brought up that actress is because they show then went on for 8 additional seasons. She it was eight years before she could have another kid (she waited four additional year before she had her third child). Or Mariska Harigitay (however you spell her last name) on Law and Order: SVU. How fair would that be to make her wait--she's been on the show for 16 years. She's 50. I believe she had her first and only child in her early 40s.

"And even with Will dead, the love triangle is not over."
