Quinn scene at the end (spoilers)

The scene Quinn died:
Ok. They are in flight. Driving out of the building they are chased.
Then there are lots of police outside. And they don't know who the bad guys are.
Quinn is 'looked for'.

I expected Quinn to show his hands and slowly get out of the car. Or better: just showing his hands and staying in the car. Letting him be arrested. Then they will see the president right there.

Instead he takes the car, goes for driving through everybody while the whole car - with the president, Carry and himself inside - gets shot to pieces.

He already mentioned that they don't know who is hostile outside. Stopping the car might be a danger to president's life.

Hi!
He already has stopped. The car was stopped.
They drove out of the underground parking garage. Then he was in the stopped car, outside the garage. Nothing was happening for a few seconds. He saw the people pointing guns, saying 'stop' - and not shooting. He could have just shown his hands in the windshield and wait for the police to arrest him, them finding the president, then being released by the president.
Then he decided to get the car moving towards all the guys with guns and decides to try to break through everything with the car. About 100 times more dangerous for all the persons in the car.

I reckon he was on a suicide mission. He hated what his life had become especially after the stroke, not remembering things and suffering paranoia. Hence, he told Carrie just before they took off, "Let me go!" He was basically saying his goodbye in that moment and you see Carrie coming to the realization that she ultimately had to respect his choice even if it meant losing him.

The advanced cars had already been bombed. There were deaths. When Quinn met up with Carrie and the President Elect, there was no one to trust. The impetus was to get the President Elect someplace safe, didn't matter where. When they came up from the parking garage, Quinn was taking count of how long they would have until those bullets would break through the bullet proof glass. There was only one way he could go since the other way was blocked by the bombed lead vehicles including the one with the fake Keane in it. So when Quinn pulled out he knew there was only one way he could go. As for getting out, or stopping and showing his hands.... he couldn't do that. His "mission" was to get President Elect Keane to safety from a possible situation where she might end up dead. So that's what he did. Quinn knew he had a death warrant on him. That's what Dar Adol wanted Max to find out for him. Quinn was going to be framed with killing Keane and Quinn knew it. Whether he was shot to death in the car, or killed someplace else while in custody, Quinn was dead.

Interesting, thanks!

(still i stand with my post showing hands staying in the car would have been safer with everybody, cause in open view and surrendering nobody could kill him, when there are 100 eyes on it; i like the idea that Quinn was cloudy thinking like when he protected the daughter before)

reply

No, Quinn was thinking like the old Quinn. That instinct never left him. People just thought he had cloudy thinking. Carrie, however, knew the old Quinn was there. That's why she was still defending what he did to the psychiatrists and to the children's aid worker. All of Quinn's instincts were still there. It's just the body was clouded in terms of his being cripple due to the stroke. And I'll stand by what I said about Quinn being dead no matter what. As for the people crowding around the car, that was the only chance Keane had in staying alive. If they'd stayed behind the barrier between the wrecked cars and the soldiers, Keane would have been killed with no one the wiser. Quinn also knew that Carrie was a goner. He did what he did in front of a crowd.
