Quinn needs...

some good lovin' from that motel chick who rocked his world. She'd straighten him out instead of the bottom feeders he's with now. 

At this point it is laughable what this show has done to Quinn. He is a pinata punching bag for the writers. How much torment can they give to him? I mean there is no possible way he ever goes back to a normal and functioning person, let alone rejoins the CIA. What is the point of keeping him alive in the show?

reply

I agree 100% !!! What is the point of keeping him alive if he is not a bad ass CIA hitman? I guess would should just wait and see how it plays out for him, but after Ep 1, not too happy for him.

reply

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I realize he can not even be an underdog rising back to the top. He's toast. I can only see him sacrificing himself (probably for Carrie, of course, again)and dying. Quinn/Friend has been a great shining point in Homeland, especially after Brody was gone and it floundered with crazy Carrie.

reply

I think he's going to recover slowly over the next three seasons, BUT I don't see how he can rejoin the CIA in his old position even if he does get full speech and mobility back. The mood and cognitive issues will take years and might not go away fully. I hope they don't kill him again- it would be too sad (and hella redundant at this stage)

Have you considered that perhaps Quinn is on active assignment regarding Carrie?

I disagree (unless the writers botch the execution). Such stunts have been the CIA's M.O. in the series.

reply

Agree. He was the best character on this show and now it's painful to watch. Probably would have been better to have just killed him off so we could at least be pissed but still loving him.

I liked the motel manager. For such a brief role it left an impression on me, she seemed very, very real.

To the question at hand, Quinn needs Astrid.

Quinn and Carrie together works best as a dream never realized. Astrid cares for him, she is smart and tough. She would be sympathetic to his condition, but willful enough to stand up to him.

Carrie is riddled with guilt, it would be hard to force someone to move forward in physical and emotional pain if you know that you are big part of the reason they are in that circumstance anyway.

Besides, Nina Hoss is phenomenal (see Phoenix). And Homeland needs to let her sing.

I can't fathom where they are going with Quinn.

But what I can't imagine is that somebody is not going to force him to use the Fed's Cadillac health plan to get him to some world famous neurologist for evaluation who specializes in the type of poison event he had!

But...am wondering what the significance is of the visions Quinn is having when he saw light in a window/doorway and was asked what he was looking at. Think he said "light?"

And then in the hallway of the VA when folks around him were bathed in a kind of halo/aurora blurred vision?

Is this a sign of brain healing? Or brain deterioration? An upcoming fatal event? (Is Gansa giving us clues as to Quinn's condition, but I'm not up on neuroscience enough to recognize the hints?)

People prone to migraines or seizures usually get "auras" before the events- it could be a sign that Quinn's in for another rough ride. I used to get migraines constantly and beforehand my vision was a swirling mess. Anything messing with your brain can also trigger strong imaginary scents, which is called Phantosmia, which I had the pleasure of experiencing after a surgery. I imagine visual hallucinations are no different- it just depends on the part of the brain.

No, I don't think the motel chick relationship will be enacted. It will be more like the relationship in Halloween between Laurie and Tommy.

"Carrie, Carrie. The Boogeyman. The boogeyman. I saw him outside!"

"Now, Peter, there's nobody there. If you don't stop this I'll have to send you to bed without any crack."

"Nobody believes me."

"I believe you, Peter."

"Who the hell let you in, Dar Adal?"
