I swore here I wouldn't watch Season 6. But when I read reviews of Episode 1, I guessed, correctly, Season 6 at least starts with the kind of t.v.-reality Nick Brody's story should have started with. "T.V.-reality," because someone who experienced what Quinn experienced in Season 5 should be dead. (Just as Nick Brody should have been on a mental ward from his torture.) So Quinn's recovery is a t.v. miracle but realistic. And SOOO sad.

The episode itself was deadly dull. I don't care about Mandy Patinkin or F. Murray Abraham or rights for downtrodden Muslim-Americans. The plight of returning soldiers too traumatized by war is a subject everyone is or should be interested in (and other victims of trauma too severe to return to "normal" life).

I felt more interest in Claire Danes' acting than I have since 2014. I hope this season focuses on actual "homeland" concerns, no matter how unromantic or unglamorous. Rupert Friend was just fantastic in the season opener.
