Just saw it...

Wow. I always had a thing for Ms. Schemel, and this documentary, which featured her and nothing but her, was bang-or-rang. For those who want to see it, it follows her hard life as a lesbian in Marysville, to all of her gigs growing up as a drummer for different bands, to how she met Kurt Cobain and subsequently Courtney Love and joined Hole, to a very DARK point that occurred around the time of Celebrity Skin. Peppered with interviews with Eric Erlandson, Melissa Auf Der Maur (yum!), Patty's mother, and other female drummers of that generation, some lesbians, some not, and yes, by the annoying Courtney Love (who continuously talks out her butt, trying to make asinine jokes and keeps thinking she's being funny; she's not.)
The film also explores the dark moment in the band's timeline when Kristen Pfaff died of a drug overdose. Filled with remarkable insight, and a gritty drip of cynicism, "Hit So Hard" is another great example of how documentaries can show the hardest of times, but all for the greater good of the people, as Patty has now redeemed herself and lives a healthy, sober, non druggist lifestyle. We could all learn a thing or two from the Patty's of the world.
All my best to Patty Schemel. She is a true rocker, a true artist, and a true inspiration to people of different types everywhere. I always loved you in Hole, you were my favorite and whenever I look down that memory lane, you give me more to smile about.
