Kurt and Kristen

Don't you think they should've at least mentioned why Kurt Cobain committed suicide? You hear Patty talking about spending time with the Cobain family, there's all these video clips of Kurt & Courtney together, followed by Kurt playing with the baby.
And then: "Kurt Cobain has committed suicide at the age of 27."

Don't you think people who have never heard of Cobain/Nirvana would be confused by this?
They could've just briefly mentioned something like, "Kurt had a lot of issues with himself through the years, having to deal with his stomach problems, depression, drugs, and bipolar disorder. It eventually got to the point when he just didn't want to live anymore, even if he had loving and supportive friends and family."

And what about Kristen Pfaff-- all these years, and we still don't know much about her? I don't remember them mentioning Janitor Joe in the film -- a band she was in before Hole, and had planned to collaborate with once again shortly before her death.

"In all my years as a barber, that is the weirdest kid I have ever met."

On Kristen Pfaff I wish someone would right a book on her, or make a documentary like this. I started reading a lot on her and she seems like a fascinating person. It is a shame she died, because she is seemed like she was brilliant and would have had an amazing career no matter what she did. I read the few times she pops up on the net that her brother was trying to get a documentary made about her. I don't know what ever came of it.
I think what bugs me about everything regarding Hole is that she seems confined to this little dust bin. All they talk about was well she died and that was that. I have not seen the film, but I'm curious about how much she is discussed. However it seems like never really addressed her all that much in the following years. Never really talk about her or anything. I don't know if that's just because of respect or the Kurt/Courtney thing is much sexier. Pfaff though seemed like an interesting Woman. Such a tragic loss. Hopefully someday someone will write a book about her or even have the decency to build a decent website.

In Hit So Hard, Courtney says Kristen's death was overshadowed by Kurt's and it was completely unfair.

This is Patty's story. Its like watching Cole Miners Daughter and expecting them to tell you the Patsy Cline story-ok bad reference but I hope you get my gist.

Patty is an inspiration and I shall show this to my daughter.

The story of Kristen Pfaff really is worth learning about. If Patty Schemel can have her own documentary, surely someone can piece together something about the fascinating and edgy Kristen. Part of the problem would be footage because she wasn't all over the cameras back then. But perhaps this can be done with the help of her brother (also a musician) and her parents (mother adamantly believes there was more to her death than OD).

Come on anyone watching this would know full well the history of these people

I don't buy the suicide angle for both Cobain and Pfaff, especially Cobain. Depression when you have an unlimited amount of money, people, new baby you obviously enjoyed. He had talent, personlity, looked physically OK. You can't get medical attention it's not like your livin' under a bridge anymore. You could basically design any type of life you want. Depression? Give me a break. Bipolar, that's the drugs.

Gettin' into a band like Nirvana or Hole is like winning the lottery. While I don't think Courtney Love had anything to do with their deaths. There might be someone else lurking behind the scenes. Maybe in the background on these VHS tapes in the documentary. The famous and wealthy attract this type of situation.

Kirsten's death was never referred to as a suicide though. It was an accidental od. She had gone through rehab and then didn't realise her tolerance had been lowered. Damn shame. She was so talented and such a beauty. No idea if the rumour of Kurt and Kristen was true but they would have made a lovely couple.

Also your comment about rich, successful people and depression is such BS.

Rich and successful people can't get depression? I don't think it works that way..haha

Kristen was a great bassist, but her career was cut short and never reached the level of prolific like the rest of the band members did; although Courtney always was the "star," Patty was a monster drummer and went on to work with several other successful bands, and Eric was the quiet, shy backbone of the band in a lot of ways I think. Melissa also went on to have a solo career.

As far as exposure for Kristen, I know that her mother wrote a book about her, so that's available. As far as her death goes, to assume it was anything other than an accidental overdose is just more conspiracy mongering IMO. She was a heroin addict like most of the people in that circle were, and she unfortunately made the error of falling back into the habit when she had been cleaning up. I've known several heroin addicts and an accidental overdose while "trying" to stay clean is not that unlikely an event.

Also, I think there are very few, if not zero, people watching this documentary who wouldn't know who Kurt Cobain was.
