Just Noticed Watching...

I never noticed, but when Mary Ellen says "When I grow up I'm going to marry a man rich enough to buy me diamonds, and if there's a depression we'll just move away," she hugs the cow just as she says "moooove." smile emoticon Looks like Fielder Cook had a sense of humor!

The other thing I DID notice the first time I saw this in 1971: that isn't a period record on the Baldwin's Victrola. It's an LP and it's definitely not spinning fast enough for a 78, which is all they would have had in 1933. 78s rotate really quickly.

Yes, but all in all, for a early 70's made for TV film, they did a really good job recreating the period sets with the limited budget.

The interior sets especially, I'm amazed with the detail including the old house that was retrofitted with electricity and the old icebox on the back porch with the top mounted compressor.

Other details like Olivia grading the old stale bread with the hand held grader, with the onions and eggs, obviously preparing the stuffing now that Charlie has supplied the bird.

However, at the beginning of the movie when the children are bringing the cow back to the barn, they're walking through snow and walk with the cow up a ramp to step into the barn. Once inside the barn, there is no ramp, no snow, but green grass to be seen on the other side of the door and the children's boots are dry where as they're covered with snow when the enter the barn.
