"Sal" was an abomination. Sal Mineo is a legend, and a huge Gay Icon.
His memory deserves respect.
Hundreds of Sal Mineo fans were anxiously awaiting this movie, as I originally started buzz about it at my Official website, http://www.salmineo.com
Michael Michaud writes an acclaimed biography of Mineo, Franco buys the film rights, then films a fictional account of Sal Mineo's last 24 hours alive. FRANCO DOESN'T BASE ANYTHING FROM THE BOOK! Tying up the movie rights to this great book that NOBODY can base a true movie based upon it,for many years.
A REAL biographical movie could have been made. Instead, a barely watchable POS. PURE FICTIONAL POS!
Lauren's portrayal is laughable, as in Franco's slow, pointless direction..
Why tie up the rights of a fantastic book, and ignore the material, and make this CRAP?
Not only disrespectful to the late Sal Mineo, but also to my friend, the late actress Jill Haworth.
