So, let me get tgis straight...

90210, Hart of Dixie, and One Tree Hill have/will get more than 2 seasons, but LA Complex gets canned? This makes no sense. I refuse to believe that Hart of Dixie has more viewers and higher ratings than LA Complex. Laughable. And I know 90210 was hot when it first premiered, but is it really still doing that well to keep getting renewed each season? They need to bring this LA Complex show back. Who do we have to write to? Where's the online petition? I'll sign it.

season 1 was amazing and season 2 took away everything that made the first season great. it deserved to be canned.

I found plenty to love in season 2. Kal and Chris worked for me, loved Raquel's continued arc, I didn't love the Jennifer/Connor plot, but they cleaned up nicely with Charlotte and Scientology. Nick and Sabrina's competition was the only real mediocre point for me, I thought that Abby's antics were generally really amusing. What did you dislike about it so much?

The best thing about season 1, that had everyone talking was Kaldrick, Tarik, and that stripper/dancer chick. Season 2 got rid of the dancer porn star chick and Tarik all together. Why not keep them around? WTF? Felt like they were trying to turn it into some 90210 teeny bop show. It was NEVER that in season 1. Season 2 had its moments, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

I think they only reason Alicia was written out was because the actress opted to go to another show instead of return to La Complex. As for Tariq, I dunno, I guess they chose to play out Kal's story over his, figuring they would have a tougher time with his redemption arc being effective while carrying on with the person he abused all over the scene. I agree that Tariq didn't HAVE to be written out, though.

I didn't really get a teeny bopper energy from it, myself. Credit fraud, threesomes, Scientology, blackmail, reality show identity conduction, trying to win a boss over by visiting whore houses and cocaine...these were pretty non generic storylines, It felt like a new kind of creature altogether. Somewhere between a teen show and an adult drama, maybe a combination of both all in one.

Okay, so I just finished the whole series. I have to say, I will be missing this show.

The reason I can think of that CW did not opt to buy this, is that it just doesn't have the look of a real US-made show. If you look carefully, most of the sets have this undeniable soundstage look to them. There are barely any outdoors scenes, and some of those are funnily enough, set outside of a soundstage.

I like The L.A. Complex for its well-meaning intentions, which border or naive--some of them cross the line, actually--and for the many storylines that are mostly coherently woven together. I like Hart of Dixie because it is fun, it is funny, it has a great "outdoorsy" feel, and it has a fully realized central character with strong storylines. Which do I like more between the two? If I get to only keep Hart of Dixie, I'd rather have it that way.

To have 19 episodes is not too bad, considering the circumstances. Firefly (sorry Jewel Staite) had less episodes.

Tariq was not written out of season 2. He didn't appear as much as the first season, but he did appear in some of the episodes. Plus with the way he reacted when Kal left after apologizing, I think he would have been back for season 3. The scenes between them were so emotional.

It wasn't CW. The show's home network opted out of a third season. From what I gather, the CW wanted more but as they only buy the finished product and do not pay to produce it, there was nothing for them to buy.

reply

You are so correct...the home network (Canadian company) cancelled the show...therefore it ended on CW. Yes, CW could've purchased the rights but, in all honesty I think they would've ruined the show which was already going down a different path from season 1
