An honest theory about Season 3

This board, for the past 2 seasons, was full and people were going back and forth throughout the seasons - commenting on their favorites, talking about the cakes and wondering what the judges were thinking when the finished products were presented. The contestants had real talent and put out fantastic cakes. Even the ones in the bottom were kind of neat. The people were for the most part, nice and helped each other and conducted themselves civilly. When they did argue or fight in the kitchen, it would sometimes be amusing. But they never set each other up and their egos were never that out of proportion.

This season, the board has been DEAD!

I wonder if this is because there is just no spark to this show anymore because NONE of the contestants have been, literally, anything to write about.

They're mean, arrogant, back-stabbing, boring, talentless (seriously, have you seen any real talent so far?)

And they're so bad that you would think at least this board would be so angry there would be pages filled with comments and criticisms, but we can't even bring ourselves to complain because we are so apathetic about this season so far.

And they DO make me so angry. And not just the contestants and their cakes and their attitudes, but Buddy too!

Dear God! That man has become insufferable. I won't watch his cooking show or Cake Boss anymore because I can't stand that man. I am giving the Next Great Baker a chance still, just because I want to see who wins, but at this point, I really don't care who does, they're all terrible. It will be a hollow win for someone indeed.

Chad is talented and he should win. Everyone else that is left are horrible, though. Gretel-Ann is a witch.

I have to disagree whole heartedly about Chad. Well, I'm not saying he doesn't have any talent but he's screwed up 2 or 3 times now. How does that guy manage to stay in this competition I have no idea. The leg on the cake? Besides being downright ugly and grossly mis-shaped it collapsed. He wasn't sent home. The height on last weeks cake was off which was his fault and they kept him again. I think Buddy should stop putting stock in this guys education and let the people stay who actually DIDN'T screw up the cakes.

Women & cats do as they please. Men & dogs should relax & get used to the idea

I have been stunned by how UGLY the finished cakes have been. I don't know whether the cakes just aren't showing up on TV or if they are really ugly.

Unless specified as fact, everything above is 100% my opinion.

The cakes have been quite ugly. Last night was the first time in a while where we got to see some of their talent. I think when a cake decorator is left to create something on their own, without a bunch of restrictions and special requests ('I don't like roses on my wedding cake,' 'I like to color black and I don't like tiers,' 'I want lots of detail'), they can create beautiful cakes!

Then they couldn't help themselves and had to keep putting sculptures on top of the cakes.

But I think what got me the most upset last night, not Chris going home because despite the fact that he seemed the nicest of the bunch, his pregnant linebacker was all kinds of wrong, was the fact that Buddy ruined the first batch of cakes.

He wanted them to learn a lesson about sometimes, accidents happen and you have to start from scratch again. WTF? Really? Maybe I'm wrong and this was a good lesson to learn, even though most of these people work in professional bakeries already and have probably had this happen.

I myself am not impressed this season, I can't form a connection with any of the people on there except the ones I despise. The cakes are crap no matter win or lose. The attitudes and underhanded bullcrap is annoying...I just really don't care about it as much this year. I catch reruns and such from time to time, but I by no means sit by the tv waiting for the episode to air

I refused to watch the last four or five episodes when i looked up who won on the internet. So two of the people I really, REALLY couldn't stand came out on top! Wonderful. This season was horrible.

I still watch the show and find it mildly entertaining, but it really has lost it's luster. I think the main reason is because in the first couple seasons, the emphasis was on baking and artistic talent. After that, it's become a cake decorating show and no one seems to be able to decorate a cake.

I liked when they had to make the cakes, come up with delicious flavors, and the taste, and texture of the cakes meant something. Now they all have the same generic cakes that are pre-made just so they can spend time on their ugly childish decorations. Nobody even tastes the cakes anymore. They might as well be working with mattress foam. The fact that Buddy can find winning cakes in this mess makes him look like a hack. I wonder about the so-called quality of his own products.

The first two seasons they actually had to know a lot about baking everything you'd find in a bakery, pies, cookies, tarts, pastries, etc. Bow it's all about cake decorating and transporting big cakes. It's still mildly entertaining, but there's no tension or celebration of the art of baking. The arguing and attitudes seem out pf place. What are they so mad about? Icing? Fondant? Lol
