So, I'm the only one watching this?

reply

I am. Surprised this board had literally zero posts from the new season. #NGBBlue.

I stopped watching. It's not the "Great Baker" I remember. Also, I cannot sit through the Jersey (black) team, maroon team, or the purple team talks anymore. They all complain and very full of themselves.

Hope the blue team wins. They are decent and do good work.

reply

Thank god the purple team is gone. I couldn't stand them. They got so lucky their cake actually stayed together last week.

I don't really have a favorite but I didn't think they should have gone home. They won last week and were the favorite this week but they didn't do the spinning element. The 2 guys have not been doing so well lately so they should have gone home but I guess Buddy likes them better overall. The 2 Hawaiian girls haven't been doing so well lately either. (I haven't seen the last episode, the second episode aired last night, so don't know how they all did with that yet)

I have been cheering for blue team since the start -- go Al and Lia!

This is a non-riot hearse. If it were a hearse, there would be silence in the backseat.

reply

Nope I'm watching and enjoying! You are not alone

reply

I've been watching it too. I just finished watching the finale and I was disappointed in the final 2; I felt the eliminated team should have continued on. I think it would have been a much closer contest if that had happened. But I'm very happy with the winning team!

I honestly think that it pissed Buddy off that Kai brought up his/her kids when he asked why he/she deserved to go to Vegas over the other team. Especially when, like he said, the other two teams have parents on them too. I don't know if he took that into consideration or not, but I really think he may have. That may not be fair, but...oh well.

I was fine with the F2 though. The third place team, I like their work, but I wasn't disappointed with any of them going to the finals. I was rooting for the winners the entire time but didn't think they would actually win. They earned it for sure though, the last two weeks went quite perfectly for them.

reply

Ya if I had to hear her say I'm doing this for my kids one more time..... like she felt she deserved it more, as if none of the other teams had families.
I was happy with the winner. Overall they were the most talented/consistent. They could do all the different kinds of decorating and also make it taste good. Personally I think doing most stuff out of buttercream is a better way to go anyway. Fondant looks nice but it's not tasty.

I agree. I think it's more likely that the customers will get what they want from the winners more than from any of the others. And I love their chemistry and how well they do so many different things.

Our television's been on the blink, so we've only been watching the last few weeks. We were glad the one couple was brought back, but disppointed when they didn't "Wow".

I found the finale a bit of an anti-climax - I feel like the "wow", along with the audience doing the taste-testing should've been the final challenge.

I do think the guys should've won the challenge, but that the winners truly deserve to run the bakery.

I know, I couldn't believe it when Al said, 'his wife, Heather,' I was like, I thought he was married to Lia!

I didn't realize it was the finale until I started watching it (don't recall seeing it listed as 'season finale' in my listings), past seasons had separate shows for 3rd, then for the final 2 (usually 2 hours in and of itself)

and I agree that 'Wow' and the 'make lots and lots of desserts and let customers vote' should have been the final(e) challenge, as it used to be in previous seasons; perhaps this was changed since they'll supposedly be 'running' a Carlo's, so the menu is set, and it doesn't matter so much what recipes the winners bring to the table?

I thought this season/concept was going to be interesting, but it didn't really grip me like the first couple of seasons (found the last one or two lackluster, too)
I think they're suffering from what I've coined, "American Idol Syndrome," I don't watch that show, but I've heard people say that the singers aren't as good anymore and viewership is dropping, and I think that's because the best people auditioned and got on the first few seasons, and the people left to try out aren't as good, and I think the same thing has happened to NGB, but I still like the show, and will watch if it comes back #sucker
