I was gripped by the action side of this, and the building tension was excellent.
Two problems for me:
- the side plots. The attempted pay-off was just weird, the government bods were irrelevant, the wasted time could have been spent in the plane, building up the claustrophobia and fleshing out the terrorists and hostages.
- the filming. Black and white, close-up wobblecam - in moderation please...
Otherwise though, a powerful and savage film.
I feel the same way, they didn't successfully develop the side story, but I understand the idea behind it and its a shame that this didn't work out. But this only goes for the story concerning members of GIGN, I loved the backdoor deals and all that stuff that governments will not reveal or acknowledge.
As for the filming, I think that this is the consequence of the relatively small budget, so they used the same tricks that we see in B movies...
