The Beatles songs

The use of the Beatles songs were the only thing about "Cirque Du Soleil" that I did not like. Using those familiar, commercialized songs kind of took me out of the fantasy for a while. i wish they hadn't of used 3 songs by the Beatles. Everything else was perfect; i loved it.

You do know Cirque du Soleil has a show based on music by The Beatles, don't you?

reply

Exactly, the movie is based on her going to the different tents of the Cirque shows in Vegas, and actually Love is probably the most popular of all of them. Ive seen Mystere, Ka, and Love and Love is my favorite of the three. There is just so much going on at the same time in front of you and over your head that you dont even know where to focus. If people havent been to the show, when they show the bed and the sheets, it actually goes up over the audience and the audience spreads it over the whole arena, which was pretty cool. I wish they would have shown the number with them dancing on the car, then John Lennons mom being hit by it and it breaking apart, that was a good part but sad part.

yeah they had to include Beatles at some point because they've got a Beatles show. I love The Beatles, so I was happy to hear their work in it.

reply

I totally agree with your point. I was happy falling into the dream of the young lady searching for the performer. The images, the music and the lack of words worked perfectly. This all changed for me when the beetles music began. I felt rudely awoken and from this point on the film lost it's wonder for me.

that is exactly my reaction. The Beatles songs broke the fantasy of the film and suddenly we were listening to familiar pop tunes, and the magic was broken. i know there is a Cirque show based on Beatles music, but i really wish they had left that out of the film..

The Beatles songs for me were the best part of it. I was a teen when they became popular and this brought it altogether for me. If you didn't like this part then you must have really hated the Elvis part.

reply

yea i had to say the weakest part of this film is the beatles section, remove it and it becomes far better.

The Beatles songs were fine, maybe one too many perhaps, but several of them actually fit in nicely (don't know what to think about the Elvis song however).
