Words to describe these people

delusional, narcissistic, egotistical, dangerous(to themselves), mental.

if you want to see "real life superheroes" watch the secret millionaire and see people who work tirelessly in their local communities, with no fanfare or any attempt to benefit themselves. These people should go volunteer rather than try and gain fame or notoriety.

This world is filled with people who seek fame or notoriety. What they are doing is pandering to that side of people to inspire them to do the same, but to help people in the process. It's a psychological recruitment tactic and it seems to somewhat be working. It's much better than seeking fame by any means necessary like most "stars" that are celebrated for doing nothing to help society.

One note i have to make though; That gay fella with the EMT training seemed pretty legit. He helped that homeless guy when the rest of them seemed annoyed and restless. Also, his brightlight gadget seemed really logical.

Another example was when that clearly inebriated douchebag hit that parked car. He took the guy's keys and told him he would mail them back to him. That was just logical and responsible despite how the others seemed: Like they wanted to jump him and flex some pose.

I used to give a $h!t, then i took an arrow in the knee.

You must have switched off halfway through.

At the start I thought they were all sad, lonely people. However by the end it turned out they all had their hearts in the right place and were actually doing more good on a daily basis than you will do in your lifetime.

Never fear though, you can still tear them down from your computer while they are actually out trying to pro-actively make the world a better place.

It's easy to tear down somebody else's work, it's harder to build something in the first place for other people to tear down.

It's along the same lines of something I've heard mentioned before. :)

Right on.

Are you a bug Bill Murray?

reply

Right. I was noticing the same thing.

If I ever put a review up, it will include the advice to "sit through the second half". Any questions about whether any of them do any good would be put to rest when seeing them "be there" for the people that sleep on the street.

One of my favorite teams of real life superheroes is(was?) a guy named "Phantom Zero" and his lovely friend "Nyx". Zero is a legal aide in real life, and he carried around with him a briefcase with all the forms a homeless person would need to get state-run healthcare, things like that (in addition to bottles of water, snacks, underwear, the sort of things we saw in the movie). (Suggest you look the two of them up with a web search.)

That's very good.

And: "A man never stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child."

I guess you could change it to "...stoops to help someone up."

You just have to be resigned-
You're crashing by design

reply

Yeahhh.......heres the problem: They were doing nothing more than wearing flashy, attention-getting outfits that would easily alert any criminal from a good distance away and, in some cases, using entrapment tactics which would get any criminal case dismissed automatically.

Who gives a **** how good-intentioned they are, they aren't actually doing anything to make an effect in crime stats no matter what anyone says. They are just weak-minded people wearing costumes, acting out their personal frustrations. They aren't altruistic, they don't really want to affect change in their community.

Truly making a community better is boring and mundane, which is why these people don't bother. They are infatuated with the romantacism of being a super-hero. For them, it isn't about saving a life or making things better, it's about them saving the day. Proving themselves better than the other guy.

Nothing special, nothing unique, just egotism in another form.

You must have fallen asleep halfway through and missed the part where they were actually out helping the poorest people in their communities by providing them with valuable things such as, oh I don't know, food and water and the such.

I guarantee they will do more for their fellow man in 2 weeks than you will probably do in your entire life, judging by your ever so lovely attitude.

That never happened. Unless, of course, you're talking about the husband and wife 'super' duo. Those 2 were great and were doing something relevant.

I was referring to those kids from New York. Aside from the EMT-in-training, none of them were helping out society in the least.

Also, LOL at your "They'll do more for their fellow man..." comment. Assuming your mistaken reference was really aimed at the couple handing out survival bags to the poor, you would be absolutely right because i'm not gonna do charity work or help out strangers.

I mind my own business and help out those i know. I'm a prick. I've wasted enough time helping out others and all it did was eat away at my wallet which was light to begin with. Helping others is a rich man's game. Tax breaks and self-flattery. Being poor and helping people is self-punishment or dim-witted idealism.

In your sig, do you mean Life as in Charlie Crews(Damien Lewis)?

I used to give a $h!t, then i took an arrow in the knee.

reply

You must have missed the part where during Comic-Con (or something similar, I haven't seen this in a long long time) a large group of them went around handing out things to the homeless in the area, not just the husband and wife who do it on a regular basis.

What you consider poor in your own life, is considered rich by millions of people around the world, remember that.

Yes, Life as in Charlie Crews.

I think the end of the documentary is a big part of what these folks are about. Helping others.
