It is indeed the first scene, so it's really not even a spoiler since it's the whole premise of the movie. Though I do kind of like that they leave it out of the trailers, just because I think on first glance the movie seems like your typical high school indie comedy, and then once you actually see it it hits you with how raw and tragic it actually is. So I think that comes on even stronger when you go in not knowing that the whole premise is that he's dead as he's retelling the story. But it certainly doesn't give anything away to know that either.

@OP I thought about using a spoiler tag but whoever enters this thread knows there is going to be an answer to the question asked in the title of it, so :P
I do think it's interesting to see people's reactions to the very first scene so when real life people ask me about it don't say anything about it. Just for the shock.
I just imagine myself not knowing that walking into the cinema and, wow, I'd probably start screaming when it happens
