Well, I'm old, but I'm a Chris fan, and I'm glad I saw this movie. Now that I'm old (did I mention that?), I can see big holes in the plot and lots of fakey stuff about how schools work (I was also a teacher), but this is a movie that tried to, like, _say_ stuff. It manages to avoid a lot of stereotypes, by flaunting cartoonish stereotypes. Filming it on video was brilliant; gives it a here-and-now feel, and also ties in with a major theme of the story that I won't spoil here.
But mostly I loved Carson. Hell, I _was_ Carson. The most common complaint I see about Struck By Lightning is how "negative and sarcastic" Carson is. I can only assume the complainers were in some other clique in school. Like Carson, I was independently minded, far-sighted, and an outlander; I had no clique. Which meant I had no homies (though, again like Carson, I did have a few tight friends.)
Though I hate sequels, I would watch many more movies about Carson. ('Course, given the way this movie started and ended, the next one would have to be "Struck By Lightning II: The Search for Carson".)
Carson lives. That hell is real.
