Chris and Rebel Forever

The film was supposed to be a comedy, but it became a little heavy for me with all the pressure and responsibility this high school kid, Carson had, watching over his mother, watching over his grandmother, dealing with his deadbeat father, and trying to motivate any interest whatsoever in his writing club, not to mention getting any help whatsoever from his daffy school counselor. Rebel Wilson was the only character more lonely and sad than Colfer's, and she was also as doggedly loyal to his character, as he was to his dream of escaping his mundane life to realize his dream. Rebel Wilson has the rare talent of comedic timing, and never over acts or under acts, but plays off the other actors with just the perfect level of commitment. I could see these 2 characters being best friends, as they tend to complement each other perfectly.

Totally agree.

They were the best characters along with the mum, the grandma and the head cheerleader.

All the characters were great, extremely flawed and with many very unlikeable traits in some ways, but very very real.

The acting was tremendous.

I did like the grandmother character since she was impressed with Carson's writing ability despite no memory of her grandson. Mallory was an interesting character as well.

Agree. Their chemistry was undeniable
