The scene in the car with Bigfoot consuming a frozen banana with sheer homoerotic lust, just might be the funniest scene I have ever seen in a film. Doc's reaction is *beep* priceless!
I understand why some people don't like it that much, but I personally find it to be one of the best absurd comedies in a long time.

To me, That scene demonstrated how Bigfoot was literally swallowing his rage and sadness at his partner's murder.

That sure could be why. But to be fair, he wasn't swallowing his rage and sadness, as much as he was tenderly licking and biting it.

The pancake scene dialog is fantastic. Probably the turning point/peak of the pieces coming together when the movie begins to click in your head (first viewing). The wit is razor sharp as the connections reveal themselves.
I also love the Bar scene with Del Toro and Doc talking about the boat/Burke Stoger backstory. Nice humor mixed with intrigue. Another commenter mentioned he didn't know if it was a comedy or drama/mystery movie and it's both and more. That's what makes it so good. The humor is subtle for the attentive. Any distractions and much will be missed watching this.
