Pointless waste of money

I loved the Beastie Boys when I was a teenager, and while my tastes have improved significantly, there is nothing like a great dose of nostalgia to remind one of their youth...but what in the world was this? A bunch of cameos by a bunch of celebrities in a Beastie Boys short film/long video?

Seriously, are these guys rolling so much dough that they could not come up with a better way to spend it? How about donating it to charity or even spreading their money out on a bed to having sex on it and then burn it? Seriously, there are so many other better things to do with your cash than make this video. I kept watching waiting for the point... and then it ended. I want my half hour back. And I refuse to take their suggestion to come back in 25 more years... "fool me once..." and all.

Oh, and who rated this so high that it got an 8.5 rating? I'm guessing it was the 100 member cast. I'd rather have my eyelids glued open while shackled to a chair while forced to watch a Tyler Perry marathon of all his films and TV shows than watch this pointless dribble for another half hour.

You make it sound like the Beastie Boys payed for the film with their own money, that's partly what music companies are for, ddvertisement and music videos.

And I doubt these celebrities were payed much for these roles. If there's a project reuniting a major gang of comedy celebrities, I'm pretty sure they'll wanna be part of it even though it doesn't pay much. Celebrities like to have fun too.

It's just one big juvenile joke, nothing to get on your high horses.

And I'd like to add that by your definition, anything work of art, music, movie, etc... is pointless and a waste of money. The King's Speech was a good movie, but hey, it didn't save any lives, the money involved in making this movie should have been sent to poor people.

Music companies invest money into music videos and *beep* because they generated money from selling music before, if they stop generating money to give it to poor people, well there's no more music companies.

Culture is just one big wheel, culture enables more culture.

What is this "definition" you speak of that I mentioned? You see that my user name is "movielover" so I would think your speculation about my feelings toward this, as you called it "art", is grossly incorrect and presumptuous given my original post.

If you managed to decipher all of that when you read my original post, then more power to you honey. We're on two completely different pages of two very different books in very different libraries.

Let's just put it this way, there is no point. It's just for fun, and entertainment. If you didn't find entertainment value, then good for you. Doesn't mean the same for anyone else though.

"How about donating it to charity or even spreading their money out on a bed to having sex on it and then burn it?"

since this movie is SUCH a waste of time and SUCH a waste of money, why waste your valuable time commenting?

how about donating your time to charity or even spreading a picture of yourself giving a big eff you to the world out on a bed to have sex on it and then burn it?

come on, get over yourself.

the glass is not half full nor half empty...but it is filled with something.

There's nothing funnier than someone who thinks that because they have a computer, they're now some great critic everyone should listen to.

It's also funny that you spend time posting about a movie you consider to be a waste of time. You know what I do if I don't like a movie? I don't watch it again, if someone asks me about it I'll tell them what I think but I certainly won't look it up on the Internet with a mission to tell a bunch of strangers that they're wrong for liking it. You need to either wake up or grow up.

Oh! I thought message boards were for OPINIONS and NOT just for writing about how much we loved a film/short/TV Show but also how much we may have disliked it.

Where exactly did I "tell a bunch of strangers that they're wrong for liking it"??? You see what you want to see. I stated my OPINION. You are free to state yours... we all have one.

I'll be sure to only post when I like something, yeah, because people never ever show dissent, they only ever speak of the things they love. What planet are you from? You clearly belong to the "My opinion is the only opinion that matters" club.

And hey, aren't you doing exactly what I did? Wasting your time showing dissent. Why don't you only reply to the posts you like?

reply

I never complained about wasting my time. This is actually amusing to me, especially since you're getting so worked up about it.

How exactly am I "clearly part of the 'my opinion is the only opinion that matters' club"? Something in particular I said or are you just reaching?

"Oh, and who rated this so high that it got an 8.5 rating?" - You're clearly giving the impression you think people are wrong for liking it.

"Seriously, are these guys rolling so much dough that they could not come up with a better way to spend it? How about donating it to charity or even spreading their money out on a bed to having sex on it and then burn it?"

Wow, such an intelligent statement. I can't believe people aren't taking you more seriously.

I just saw your response and you know what, I think I'll be immature and reply just for the sake of not "getting out" as you instructed.

Nothing about my original post was a troll, it was simply an enthusiastic opinion. I'll post my opinion when and where I want regardless of whether it is in line with the mainstream opinion. Now why don't you "grow up and get out" you giant douche.

Now isn't IMDB the greatest place to take your frustrations out on a random stranger while sitting on your computer in your underwear?

It's a comedy piece. If you want an art film with lots of symbolism and rich food for thought go watch something Tree of Life or Cold Fish.

Even people who prefer serious dramas can occasionally enjoy some good humour.

The video was funny. I lol'ed a few times. It was worth the watch and I'm glad it was made.
