She's supposed to be Italian, but at times she sounds Russian, plus her name is Nadia, which is NOT Italian. Perhaps she is putting on the accent to be funny, but it does get annoying when she starts sounding more like Natasha from the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons. Besides the weird accent, I do enjoy watching her show and it is quirky fun...just the (possibly fake?) accent gets to me.

I think Nadia is from Canada. The show is filmed there. So, the accent is fake. At times, the accent annoys me too. Obviously she portraying a stereotyped Italian-American woman, just as the guys on her show are stereotypes of Italian-American man(although Panos is supposed to be Greek) and a Middle Eastern man.
This part of the show and the quirkiness makes me hesitant to show it to friends and family.

Just so you know, his name is Panagiotis Koussioulas, you don't get much more Greek than that, so there is no "supposed to be" about it.

As for Nadia, do ALL Canadians have the same stereotypical accent? The answer is no, but it is kinda cool to see someone trying to stereotype people. When I went to Vancouver, it took two days until I ran into someone with the "Canadian Accent". Nadia is first generation Canadian of Italian descent, so since you usually pick up the accent of the people who raise you, unless you move somewhere later in your life, it would make perfect sense for her to have this accent.

I think this is my primary complaint with the show. She's no different than any other cooking personality except that she seriously goes through three different accents in one sentence. I can't take it.
I do appreciate that she is the ONE person on any of those networks who will not shy away from making vegan food (although the carnivorous turd who tried to add "comic" relief was tired).
She's hot AF, though, and a lot of fun or else I'd not have watched her.

The neighbourhood is called St Leonard and the variety of English spoken there, heavily influenced by Italian-immigration settlement patterns, is called St Leonardese. This variety of English is grammatical, has its own dictionary, and if you think it's a fake 'accent' then maybe you'd like to call up any number of linguistic textbooks or peer-reviewed language journals that have been written about it.
Just because you are ignorant and have never heard someone's regional standard of English doesn't mean it doesn't exist nor does it mean it's less legitimate, standard, or correct than your own possibly fake or put-on 'accent'.

I know a guy from Montreal who is c Sicilian. He grew up speaking Sicilian first, then Quebequois, then French, then English and then proper Italian. He sounded a bit like Nadia G. He didn't look nearly as good in heals, though.
