Watched it, got the joke, hated it.

I understand here. They're trying to show as the douchbag that always wins. Kind of the opposite of the southpark "You know what? I learned something today."

The problem is that there is nothing for the audience to root for. The good people are treated like crap, and the douches always win. While that might be true in real life, no one wants to watch that on TV. Cartman and the gang on "It's always sunny" are jerks, but they get what is coming to them. Stewie Griffen while not nice would either inadvertently fix the problems of others or when he is pure evil at least just break even and no one really got hurt. Here there is none of that. So it comes as "Why would the audience care about this?".

Sometimes, Just Sometimes, the joke's on you.

It did have one episode where while Allen still avoided getting in trouble, the father was shown as an idiot by people on the show. It actually was a good episode but right after that the show went right back to crap and then got cancelled.

Had they kept up episodes like that one, the show could have still been on the air.

Actually, I found it funny. So the douches constantly beat up the good guys. And one of them is an adorable kid with a hilarious voice. The haters need to chill out about this stuff lest they lead to the cancellation of another show that doesn't deserve it.

I think that is an acurate analysis on why the show did resonate with viewers. You didn't care about any of the characters.

Unlike other animated child sociopaths (Bart Simpsons, Louise Belcher, Eric Cartman, Stewie Griffin), Allen Gregory is rather irritating and there is nothing redeeming about him. There is nothing sympathetic or likeable about him, and his Richard is exponentially sickening. They are just cruel.
Also, it's hard to find any type of sympathy or pity for Richard, as the premise of his faux-gay life is plain silly. You can't even muster any respect for him.

I hated the first episode and was somewhat disgusted by it. However, I gave it another chance, and found it OK, and there are some biting dialogue that had me laughing out loud.

Perhaps it may find a new life on Adult Swim.

Well that's the thing, he's not an adorable kid. If the show had likable characters on it it would still be around today. And they had the chance to do so after that one episode transformersfan mentioned, but they choose to go back to what was killing the show which lead to it's cancellation.
